Almost 70 percent of the population in Norway belong to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Norway and 3 percent to the Catholic Church. Some 3.5 percent of the population practice Islam.
The Norwegian Humanist Association is the largest humanist association in the world with more than 100 000 members in Norway. The association promotes a secular life stance with the view that “humans are part of nature, born free and equal in dignity and rights, equipped with reason and conscience”.
