Membership in Norway's National Insurance Scheme (NIS), otherwise known as Folketrygd in Norwegian, gives you the right to services provided by the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV). These include health, unemployment and child benefits; pensions and employment schemes amongst others.

Your salary will help determine how much you'd pay to the National Insurance Scheme and you can see how much you've contributed in your annual tax statement. You can also view the contribution rates online.

Yes, your dependant famaily member has the right to be reimbursed for health care expenses incurred in the country that they reside in (Switzerland or another EU/EEA country) at Norway’s expense.
You will need to apply to Helfo for an S1 certificate to be eligible for this. Login to Helfo's digital form via altinn.no and attach a copy of your employment contract and confirmation from your employer that you are still an employee if the employment contract is more than one year old.
Either you or your dependant must then submit the S1 certificate to the National Insurance authorities in the country in which your dependant lives.
Alternatively, you may also download the form and mail it to Helfo, Postboks 2415, 3104 Tønsberg, Norway.
