Target group: international job seekers with higher education, those unfamiliar with Norwegian working life/culture, and those who would like to upgrade and adjust their CV to suit the Norwegian job market.
The course will include presentations and workshops that will:
identify and describe informal and formal competence
identify the pre-requisites for enrolling in formal education that is approved in Norway
explore job seeking “tools” and systems (NAV registration, LinkedIn and others)
help you improve CV and cover letter writing
create awareness about cross-cultural communication, and Norwegian workplace culture
shed light about the power of professional network and volunteer work
share experience and allow you to get to know other international jobseekers
JOB START PROGRAMME
Day 1 - Morning Session: Welcome and introduction to the Job-Start Course.

A short introduction of all the participants, course goals and plan for the 4 days
Success stories from other internationals in Agder -Worklife in Norway from an international perspective
Topics:
Identifying and describing formal and informal competence. Approval of formal and informal education in Norway (Karriere Agder)

Day 2 - Morning Session: Applying for a job and NAV support
Topics:
Norwegian standards and expectations for a resume or "CV" (Caritas).
Resume/CV and cover letter continued with workshop and sharing experience.

Day 2 - Afternoon Session: Job market in Agder & workplace culture

Cross-cultural communication in the Norwegian workplace (NAV Agder) and workshop - sharing experience living and working in Norway
Day 3 - Morning Session: Recruitment process & employees rights
Topics:
Recruiting process from an employer’s perspective and tips and tricks for the interview (CISCO)
Get to know the Norwegian model and the importance of trade unions, what are the labour rights for employees? (Tekna)
Day 3 - Afternoon Session: Language barriers and how to use LinkedIn
Topics:
The value of learning Norwegian & Sharing ideas (Arendal Voksenopplæring)
The increasing importance of Linkedin - showcase your skills and personality and how to use it when searching for work (LinkedIn expert).
Day 4 - Morning Session: Mental well-being
Topic:
Mental well-being - why is it so hard to be an (international) jobseeker and what can you do to make it better? Sharing and talking about our experiences is important and can give valuable tools for finding ways to improve our well-being.
Day 4 - Afternoon Session: Networking
Topics:
Why you should join something from an Inspiring expert and workshop to map your interests. Networking in Norway is important: Introduction and mingle with organisations, professional networks and volunteer associations.
